Korean Transportation System

Korea's transportation network is world-class and incredibly convenient for travelers:

-- KTX (Korea Train Express): Korea's bullet train connects major cities at up to 305 km/h. Seoul to Busan takes only 2.5 hours! Book tickets on the Korail app or at station kiosks. During holidays (설날, 추석), tickets sell out fast — book weeks in advance.

-- 교통카드 (T-money card): This rechargeable card works on ALL public transport nationwide — subways, buses, taxis, and even convenience store purchases. Buy one at any convenience store (편의점) or subway station. Fares are slightly cheaper with T-money than cash. You can also use your phone with mobile T-money.

-- 따릉이 (Ttareungyi): Seoul's public bike-sharing system with stations everywhere. Rent through the app for 1,000 won/hour. Great for exploring along the Han River bike paths!

-- 택시 앱 (Taxi Apps): 카카오T (Kakao T) is Korea's dominant taxi app — think Korean Uber. It's reliable, shows fare estimates, and drivers are tracked. Regular taxis (일반택시) are affordable. Deluxe taxis (모범택시) are black and more expensive but more comfortable.

-- 시외버스 / 고속버스 (Intercity/Express Buses): Cheap and comfortable way to reach smaller cities. Book on the "고속버스 모바일" app. Premium buses (우등) have wider seats and more legroom.

-- Useful phrases: "여기서 내려 주세요" (Please drop me off here), "얼마예요?" (How much?), "이 버스가 강남에 가요?" (Does this bus go to Gangnam?)
